Opened since the start of September, the Julie-Victoire Daubié College in Wissous celebrated its official inauguration this Saturday, September 26th. The ceremony was attended by parents, elected officials, teachers, and current and future students.
This new establishment, the 102nd in Essonne, currently hosts 6th-grade students from Wissous, Chilly-Mazarin, and Morangis. Its capacity is designed to gradually increase to accommodate up to 800 students.
The facility offers a modern learning environment, designed to meet the needs of both students and educational staff. Particular attention has been paid to thermal and acoustic comfort, as well as the quality of indoor and outdoor spaces.
The building is part of an environmental initiative, incorporating design choices aimed at minimizing its ecological impact and promoting sustainable mobility. The goal is to provide students with an environment conducive to learning and pleasant for daily life.
The college is named in honor of Julie-Victoire Daubié, the first woman to obtain the baccalauréat in France. Her journey, symbolizing determination, emancipation through knowledge, ambition, and equal opportunities, aligns with the values of an institution dedicated to youth and their future.
The ceremony concluded with official speeches and the traditional ribbon-cutting, attended notably by a descendant of Julie-Victoire Daubié. This new facility represents an investment in youth and the future of the region.
