For several weeks, reports have indicated an increased presence of mosquitoes in Igny. This situation is not isolated, as a significant proliferation is currently observed throughout the Île-de-France region.
The City, attentive to these reports, reminds the public that it is impossible to completely eradicate mosquitoes. However, everyone can contribute to limiting their proliferation by eliminating stagnant water sources, which are the primary breeding grounds.
To reduce mosquito presence around homes, several simple actions are recommended: eliminate stagnant water in plant pot saucers, buckets, watering cans, outdoor toys, or discarded items; regularly empty containers that can hold water; cover rainwater harvesting systems; and maintain gutters and water drains.
It is reminded that 80% of larval breeding sites are found on private property. As the City cannot intervene on private premises, each individual plays an essential role. A simple capful of water can allow for the birth of a hundred mosquitoes. These regular actions help reduce breeding sites and thus limit mosquito proliferation.
