The city of Rueil-Malmaison has inaugurated the "Place des Jumelages", a new space dedicated to celebrating international partnerships and promoting dialogue and peace.

Traffic disruptions in the Buzenval neighborhood marked the inauguration of the "Place des Jumelages" in Rueil-Malmaison. The mayor emphasized that this naming is "much more than a symbolic gesture," aiming to "contribute, on our scale, to a culture of dialogue and peace!"
In a tense international context, these partnerships take on particular significance. Patrick Ollier recalled that "diplomacy is not played out solely between states." Twinning initiatives thrive through human relationships: school exchanges, sports meetings, cultural events, and hosting delegations.
The human dimension was evident during the ceremony with the unveiling of the twin cities' banners by representatives of local associations, including Les Amis des jumelage, chaired by Brigitte Roger. A member of the youth municipal council read a message from the partner mayors.
Jérôme Pardigon, deputy mayor for International Affairs and Twinning, highlighted the solidarity actions undertaken by the City and associations, particularly in aiding populations affected by crises in Lebanon and Ukraine.
This outward-looking approach is already visible in Rueil-Malmaison. The "Marché du monde" (World Market) annually hosts exhibitors from twin cities. The "parc de l’Amitié" (Friendship Park) features plant species from around the globe, and several promenades and squares are named after partner cities. The new "Place des Jumelages" now joins this symbolism, reminding passersby of the encounters, shared memories, and common projects behind official agreements.
