Facing seasonal flu, which affects millions in France each winter, the Île-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) stresses the necessity of vaccination and barrier gestures to protect the most vulnerable.

Each year, seasonal flu affects between 2 and 6 million people in mainland France. To limit severe cases and protect the most fragile populations, the ARS reminds the public of the importance of vaccination and preventive measures.
Vaccination is particularly recommended for individuals aged 65 and over, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, people suffering from obesity, and certain professionals, especially in healthcare. Children aged 2 to 17 can also be vaccinated. Among seniors, this vaccination is estimated to save an average of 2,000 lives each year.
Since October 13, 2026, vaccination campaigns for flu and Covid-19 have been conducted simultaneously. Liberal healthcare professionals, health centers, and pharmacies can now store vaccines to facilitate access. The High Authority for Health (HAS) has also recommended mandatory vaccination for healthcare professionals and those working in facilities for vulnerable individuals, with priority for Ehpad and USLD.
In addition to vaccination, barrier gestures remain essential: regular hand washing, wearing a mask when symptomatic or in high-risk situations, and isolating oneself when ill.
To find out about vaccination procedures tailored to your situation, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional.
