On Saturday, October 17, Stade Bauer witnessed the inauguration of its new North Stand, the Rino Della Negra. This event coincided with the match between Red Star and the L2 leader, Saint-Etienne. Despite the home team's 0-1 defeat, the atmosphere was festive for the 1700 supporters, kop members and season ticket holders, who were experiencing this new facility for the first time.
Located on the rue du Docteur Bauer side, this stand now brings the stadium's capacity to 6600 seats. The overall project aims for a final capacity of 10,000 seats. Supporters expressed their attachment to keeping the club at Bauer, a historic venue for Red Star since 1909.
The name of the stand, Rino Della Negra, a resistance fighter and member of the Manouchian network, who played for Red Star from 1943 to 1944 and was shot in 1944, was particularly praised by the ultras. For supporters like Wilfried, 68, a fan since he was 14, this is the best news, recalling the many strong memories experienced at this stadium.
Testimonies such as that of Augustin, a resident of Saint-Ouen, highlight the importance of this continuity for the history of the club and the city. Others, like Selin, Filip, and Florian, friends who have been coming to the stadium for 10 years, appreciate the club's values of sharing and solidarity, reinforced by this new stand.
On the sporting front, the match did not live up to expectations. After a good start by Red Star, Saint-Etienne took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to Irvin Cardona. Despite a few chances, Red Star lacked response to the visitors' pressure and Saint-Etienne's counter-attacks, leaving with a defeat that puts them 5 points behind the leader.
