Built in the 1970s, the Théâtre des Louvrais underwent significant upgrades over the past two years. In 2024, the automated control system for stage equipment was replaced, and 200 LED projectors replaced the previous 300 halogen ones, cutting lighting-related energy consumption by 50 %. The building's thermal insulation, including the roof, walls, and glass facades, was redone, along with heating and ventilation systems, supported in part by the State's Green Fund.
During the inauguration evening, Jean-Paul Jeandon, president of the Communauté d’Agglomération, highlighted the collective effort to preserve this cultural venue. Dominique Marçot, president of Points communs, praised the support from local authorities and the cooperation with the City of Pontoise. The reopening event on Friday, October 9th, saw a large public turnout, reflecting residents' strong attachment.
Céline Alves-Pinto, community councilor for Culture, emphasized the theater's symbolic role in the neighborhood, working closely with the Louvrais community center. She expressed delight at the presence of residents and elected officials, noting the benefit of having two venues for the Scène nationale, in Cergy and Pontoise.
Lisa, a long-time Pontoise theatergoer, attended the performance of Bate Fado, presented by Points communs in partnership with Le Forum. She shared her joy in reuniting with the audience and artists, stressing the theater's importance as a hub for connection and creativity in the heart of the district.
