The Department of Val d’Oise is launching the "Permis citoyen" (Citizen's License), a program offering €500 in aid to young people aged 18 to 25 to help finance their driving licenses.

In return for this aid, young Val d'Oise residents commit to completing 20 hours of volunteer work within a local structure (association, municipality, or public establishment) in the Val d'Oise territory.
To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old, have been a tax resident in Val d'Oise for at least one year, have passed the road traffic code exam, and not be eligible for or have already received driving license aid from the Île-de-France Region.
The €500 aid is paid in two installments: 70% after positive review of the application, and 30% upon presentation of proof of volunteer work. Beneficiaries have four months from the notification of application completeness to perform their volunteer hours, and six months thereafter to submit the necessary supporting documents for the balance payment.
Host structures for volunteer work are listed in two departmental directories, available for download on the Department's website.
