The City of Sarcelles and the CCAS, in partnership with numerous organizations, are mobilizing for the 2026 edition of Pink October. The program focuses on five key themes: nutrition, physical activity, well-being, environmental health, and access to care. These initiatives aim to counteract the significant drop in participation rates for organized cancer screenings, particularly noticeable in Sarcelles, where the breast cancer screening participation rate was only 34.7% in 2024, below the departmental average for Val-d'Oise.
Organized screening, especially mammograms every two years for women aged 50 to 74, is highly recommended. However, all proposed activities are open to everyone.
Among the highlights, a conference titled 'The Protective Plate' will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at the Salle Jacques-Berrier (rue Pierre-Brossolette), from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. It will address the role of diet in cancer prevention and maintaining good health, featuring speakers such as Dr. Cyril Laporte, oncologist, Pierre Joyeau, micronutritionist, and Mara Kanté, an engaged content creator.
Friday, October 16th will feature the main Pink October event (10 AM – 4:30 PM) at the Nelson Mandela Sports Center and on Place de Navarre. A Mammobus will be available for mammographic screenings, followed by a 'Tous en rose' (All in Pink) walk led by the Batucada Yakâjoué. A Health Prevention Village will offer workshops, screening information, self-palpation demonstrations, and the 'Bulle Rose' (Pink Bubble). The afternoon will conclude with a giant Zumba session.
Throughout the month, community centers will host specific workshops: at the Valéry Watteau Community Center, an exhibition by children and creative workshops; at the Rosiers-Chantepie Community Center / Maison des Parents, sessions with a pediatric nurse and a workshop on nutrition; at the Sablons Community Center, a gentle exercise class and a culinary workshop; and at the Lochères Community Center, a well-being workshop.
All these activities are free. Registration for dedicated workshops is directly with the respective community centers. For further information, contact details include the CCAS (01 34 38 20 08 / 01 34 38 30 30) and the various community centers.
