The Maison pour tous (MPT) and the municipal youth service (SMJ) in Chevilly-Larue are implementing homework assistance programs to support children in their schooling. These initiatives aim to provide a conducive study environment, methodological advice, and personalized guidance.
For students from CP to 5th grade, the MPT welcomes around sixty children each evening as part of a school support program (CLAS), funded by the municipality and the CAF. After a snack and a chat with the facilitators, the children focus on their homework, followed by a fun recreation period. Constant dialogue is maintained between the MPT, families, and schools.
Nassim Hamani, director of the MPT, emphasizes that this program is a crucial support for families, focusing on teaching work methods, fostering autonomy, and promoting personal development. Once a week, cultural, artistic, or sports workshops are also offered in partnership with associations and municipal facilities to spark their curiosity.
Students in 4th and 3rd grade can attend the Municipal Youth Service. They are supervised on Tuesdays and Thursdays by students and youth advisors.
Issa Camara, Municipal Councilor Delegate for Youth, explains that this support is central to the Municipality's academic support project, working closely with its partners. 'Accompanying young people with homework help also means being alongside families,' he states.
Sessions will resume after the All Saints' Day holidays. For the MPT (7, voie Rosa Parks, tel: 01 46 75 93 22), the annual fee ranges from €45 to €60 depending on the family's income quotient. The SMJ (15, rue Henri Crété, tel: 01 46 87 97 65) requires parental participation per trimester.
