Following the violent storm on August 27th, Maisons-Alfort sustained considerable damage, mobilizing municipal teams to restore traffic and secure public roads.

On August 27th, Maisons-Alfort, along with other towns in the Val-de-Marne department, was hit by a severe storm. Thanks to the swift mobilization of municipal agents, including those from Public Works, Green Spaces, and the municipal police, as well as the fire department, traffic was quickly restored and roads secured, despite extensive damage across all neighborhoods.
This intense weather event caused about a hundred trees to fall within the communal territory. For public safety reasons, the town was also compelled to cut down trees that were severely weakened. Parks and gardens remained closed for several days.
A plan to plant new tree species is scheduled between December and mid-April. A preparation phase will begin in November with the grinding of remaining stumps. The new species, chosen for their increased resistance and adaptation to climate change, will be planted in favorable weather conditions to minimize risks associated with frost and heavy rain. Parks and gardens have since reopened.
In the aftermath of the storm, the Mayor, Romain Maria, requested the recognition of a state of natural disaster from the government, a request currently under review. Residents of Maisons-Alfort who suffered damage due to violent winds, tornado, or hail are advised to declare their claims to their insurer as soon as possible.
