The second edition of the Yvelines Theatre festival, initiated by the Department of Yvelines, had a promising start in Bois-d’Arcy, attracting audiences of all ages. The event aims to make live performance accessible to the widest possible audience, offering a variety of genres such as classical and contemporary theatre, magic, circus, puppetry, vaudeville, and musical shows.
Joséphine KOLLMANNSBERGER, Vice-President of the Department for Culture and Tourism, highlighted the importance of this popular and high-quality festival, intended to reach all municipalities in the Yvelines, including those with fewer cultural offerings. Philippe BENASSAYA, Mayor of Bois-d’Arcy and Vice-President of the Department, expressed pride in hosting this event, deemed 'unifying' by residents.
Spectators, like Mathias and Caroline from Beynes, shared their satisfaction, emphasizing the free nature of the shows which allows families to enjoy diverse artistic proposals without significant expense. This year, the family plans to see at least two shows.
The opening night featured the contemporary comedy « Et Dieu créa le sport » (And God Created Sport) by the company Alboflède et Le Saut du Tremplin, which humorously revisits the history of sport. Among the attendees was Alain DEGOIS, also known as « Papy », a prominent figure in improvisational theatre, who praised the departmental initiative as more necessary than ever.
The festival offers 50 free performances by 15 companies in numerous towns across the Yvelines until November 15. Online booking is highly recommended via the festival's official ticketing platform.
