After several months of work, the Department officially inaugurated the main phase of the reconstruction of the Maryse-Bastié college in Vélizy-Villacoublay on October 13, 2026. Delivered for the 2026 school year, the new facility represents an investment of 46 million euros. It offers students and educational teams modern, functional spaces designed to meet environmental challenges.
The president of the Department of Yvelines, Pierre BÉDIER, recalled the importance of giving young people the means to succeed, stating that "today's youth will build tomorrow's society." The college principal, Isabelle GÉRARD, praised the "bright, spacious premises that give young people the desire to come to school," while the academic director of national education services, Jean-Pierre GENEVIÈVE, believes the establishment contributes to the students' development.
This new establishment, rebuilt on its historic site, can now accommodate 664 students, including 64 in the Adapted General and Vocational Education Section (SEGPA). It features 20 classrooms, 4 science laboratories, 2 technology rooms, a multimedia room, a library and information center (CDI), and spaces dedicated to artistic practices.
Designed to limit its environmental impact, the college complies with the RE2020 regulations and the level 3 Bio-based Building label. It is connected to a district heating network powered by 50% renewable energy and has photovoltaic panels on the roof. Green outdoor spaces and 122 bicycle parking spaces are also planned.
The project will continue with the final landscaping of the outdoor areas, as well as the reconstruction of the canteen and the Municipal Technical Center.
The college is named after Maryse BASTIÉ (born Marie-Louise BOMBEC, 1898-1952), a pioneering French aviatrix, holder of several flight records, and an engaged figure in the feminist movement and the French Resistance.
