On June 3, 2026, 90 children aged 7 to 12, from Guyancourt, La Verrière, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Plaisir, and Trappes, concluded their first year of musical learning with a concert held at La Merise in Trappes. For 47 of them, this marked the end of their initial year in the program.
The DÉMOS program (Dispositif d’Éducation Musicale et Orchestrale à vocation Sociale) aims to democratize access to classical music through orchestral practice. It is designed for children aged 7 to 12 who are distanced from this practice due to economic, social, or geographical reasons.
Launched in 2010 and coordinated by the Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris, the Démos program has been active in the Yvelines region since 2016. Locally supported by SQY since 2022, after six years under the coordination of the Philharmonie de Paris, this initiative features a new hybrid cohort, comprising both budding young musicians and children from the previous cohort.
