The Municipality of Bièvres, in partnership with Versailles Grand Parc, is expanding its neighborhood composting bin network to facilitate food waste sorting and reduce the weight of household bins.

As part of its partnership with Versailles Grand Parc, the Municipality is continuing the deployment of composting bins in neighborhoods to create composting areas accessible to the greatest number. Thanks to the commitment of volunteer referents, nine composting sites are currently in operation in Bièvres: at the town hall, the cemetery, allée de la Ferme, at the résidence du Renouveau, at the shared gardens, at the résidence du Val Profond, at the résidence des Hommeries, at the Maison de la Petite Enfance, and soon at the train station.
Sorting food waste reduces the weight of household garbage bins by 30%, meaning they fill up more slowly and can be put out less often. Participating in this initiative offers concrete daily benefits.
To ensure the proper functioning of the shared composters, the Municipality is seeking volunteer referents for the sites at allée de la Ferme and avenue de la Gare. After free training funded by Versailles Grand Parc, referents will guide residents in good composting practices and ensure the proper use of the equipment. No specific skills are required; motivation and an interest in ecological actions are sufficient. To get involved, contact developpement.durable@bievres.fr.
