From November 6 to 25, the City of Étampes is organizing the Solidarity Month, an initiative aimed at strengthening community ties and supporting those in need, thanks to the mobilization of numerous local actors.

The event, coordinated by the Jean-Carmet social center, relies on a broad chain of solidarity involving partners such as the CAF de l’Essonne, MDS, CAESE, housing providers, schools, and numerous associations including Hopiness, Talent Brut, Femmes Solidaires, RERS d’Étampes, the Red Cross, Secours populaire, and Restos du Cœur, as well as volunteers and residents.
Among the flagship actions, the 'Suspended Baguette' operation invites customers of partner bakeries, Ange and Le Coin des Délices, to buy an extra baguette for those in need. These collected breads will be given to the Red Cross for distribution during outreach activities.
Two solidarity outreach events are planned for Fridays, November 6 and 20, in collaboration with local charities. Residents wishing to help prepare meals or donate food can get information from the social center's reception.
The solidarity thrift store, held on November 14 and 15 from 10 am to 5 pm, will allow the purchase of three clothing items or accessories for €2. Additionally, volunteers from the Repair Café will offer their skills on November 7 and 21 (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) to repair items and give them a second life.
On November 21, the Réseau d’Échanges Réciproques de Savoirs (RERS) Étampois will host its Solidarity Festival (10 am-12 pm and 1 pm-6 pm), featuring craft workshops and presentations of the association's activities.
The 'Empty Your Room' operation encourages families to sort through their children's closets and give a second life to unused toys and plush animals. The social center collects items in good condition to offer to children in need, who will be invited to a large solidarity snack on Saturday, December 12, for the donation distribution.
The program also includes a collection of school supplies for a school abroad and the 'White Tornado' on November 25 (2 pm-5 pm), a neighborhood cleanup operation to engage children, youth, and families in preserving their living environment.
Anyone can contribute by donating good condition clothing, complete toys and games, school supplies, or food items needed for meal preparation. Donations can be dropped off at the social center during its opening hours. Toys will be sorted and repaired if necessary before distribution to families in December.
