During the autumn holidays, the Rosa-Parks Space offered families a week of activities focused on discovering global cultures. The initiative aimed to highlight the diversity of residents and strengthen community bonds through games, creative workshops, exploration of traditions, and a cultural outing.
Myriam and Chaféa, who initiated the project, explained that the goal was to compare traditions and habits from different countries, identify similarities and differences, and foster mutual understanding. The week allowed families to share their backgrounds through fun activities, a collaborative world map, games, and exchanges of memories, recipes, and expressions from various languages.
On Tuesday, October 20, a trip to the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac in Paris was particularly enjoyed by children and adults, offering an immersion into the arts and traditions of peoples worldwide. Farmata, a resident of Vallée Collin, emphasized the importance of such outings for broadening young people's horizons.
On Thursday, October 22, a shared meal highlighted the culinary specialties from participants' countries of origin, accompanied by stories and customs. The mayor, Gilles Bayart, and the deputy mayor for Youth and Neighborhoods, Fatimata Bâ, acknowledged the event's convivial atmosphere and presented symbolic diplomas.
The week concluded on Friday, October 23, with the creation of a collective mural and the presentation of the participants' work, symbolizing cultural diversity as a shared asset and promoting community cohesion in Étampes.
