A baby's first months are a crucial period for language development, filled with discoveries of sounds, interactions, nursery rhymes, and stories. To support this, every family welcoming a newborn will receive a birth book.
Through the departmental initiative "Bien grandir avec les mots" (Growing up well with words), in collaboration with the Communauté d’Agglomération, a book is gifted with every birth. The chosen book, "Bébé dedans, bébé dehors" by Antoine Guilloppé, is available at several locations.
Families can collect this book from the agglomeration's network of libraries, including the Médiathèque Lucien Chaumette (17 rue Jacob in Angerville), the Médiathèque Diane de Poitiers (4 rue Sainte-Croix in Étampes), the Médiathèque Ulysse (6-8 rue Jean-Etienne Guettard in Étampes), and the Médiathèque 3 rue au Comte in Morigny-Champigny.
It can also be picked up at local Maternal and Child Protection centers: the Centre de Protection Maternel et Infantile (PMI) (4 rue de l’Église in Angerville) and the Maison de la Petite Enfance Serge Levrez (21 rue Jean Baptiste Eynard in Étampes).
To receive this gift, families must present the coupon given at the maternity ward. This is a wonderful way to introduce stories into the daily lives of toddlers and share the joy of reading and exchanging words from an early age.
Access to the agglomeration's libraries is entirely free and designed for young children, featuring dedicated furniture and numerous workshops.
