From October 2nd to 9th, the town of Montgeron is mobilizing to make difference a richness and inclusion a reality. Through a week punctuated by events, workshops, and solidarity initiatives, young and old are invited to better understand disability, overcome prejudices, and see differences from a new perspective. The Disability Week will take place in schools, leisure centers, sports facilities, and municipal services, with everyone contributing to advancing inclusion.
Starting from the new school year, solidarity enters the schools. From the beginning of the term until October 6th, the town's schools are participating in a large cap collection for the association « Un Bouchon, Une Espérance ». Nurseries are also taking part this year. The caps are deposited in containers made by children from leisure centers. At the end of the collection, they will be collected, weighed, and counted. The establishment that collects the most caps will win a cup, presented by Madame le Maire on Thursday, October 8th.
The week will officially kick off on Friday, October 2nd, with the Boucle des Lumières, a charity night run. From October 5th to 9th, workshops will be held in schools, notably at the Picot gymnasium, where CM1 and CM2 students will discover different disability situations through practical workshops coordinated by the Sports Department and animated by a specialized organization. On Monday, October 5th, placemats designed to raise awareness about disability will be distributed in school restaurants.
On Wednesday, October 7th, activities for all ages are planned at the Saint-éxupéry Social Center, the Youth Space, and in nursery and elementary leisure centers. An arts and crafts workshop is offered on Friday, October 9th, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the social grocery store L’Oasis, for ages 6 and up. To conclude the week, the Saint-éxupéry social center invites residents to a HandiGames evening on Friday, October 9th, featuring board games and fun activities.
