In Montgeron, security relies on close collaboration between the Municipal Police, National Police, and firefighters, as highlighted in an October 6th conference that addressed residents' questions.

Following recent incidents at the Rosa Parks high school, Montgeron residents voiced concerns about feelings of insecurity, intervention times, and procedural understanding. A conference was held to provide concrete answers, supported by figures and studies, covering the urban supervision center (CSU), National Police interventions, firefighter rescues, and new regulations for electric scooters.
The CSU operates 24/7 with over 100 cameras. On the ground, 16 municipal police officers ensure local presence, having removed 725 "ventouse" vehicles in 2025 and conducted 23 speed checks in September. Across ten municipalities, the National Police deploys 275 officers, handling 22,000 calls annually, leading to 8,700 interventions. The emergency number is 17, and the police station is open around the clock.
The fire station has 60 firefighters (30 professional, 30 volunteers) and responds to approximately 3,700 incidents per year. A minimum of seven to nine firefighters are on duty at all times to ensure immediate response capability.
The Mayor outlined five key points: filing a complaint alongside the Region for damages at Rosa Parks high school, enforcing safety rules for scooters with fines since October 1st (measures extended to the entire Essonne department by the prefecture), establishing a communal civil security reserve for volunteer mobilization during crises, funding first aid training for residents, and relaunching responsibility measures with Bayard and Pompidou middle schools for temporarily excluded students.
“

"They allow us to react in real-time when a suspicious situation is spotted, but also to reconstruct events after an incident using recorded footage. The two municipal police officers in charge of the CSU also monitor the city's escape routes."

"Public lighting being turned off at night has no statistically proven impact on burglaries: comparing the figures reveals no link."

Jérôme Kraft · Police Commissioner

"Because in a forest, fire can spread much faster. With the drought, vegetation becomes highly flammable, and in a continuous mass like the Sénart forest, a fire can quickly escalate, and all our teams were already mobilized."

Noël Ghesquiere · Fire Station Lieutenant
