To improve traffic conditions, enhance safety, and optimize parking, the Town of Savigny-sur-Orge is continuing to develop its future traffic and parking plan. Conducted with the engineering firm INGETEC, this initiative involves consultation with residents and businesses, as well as several experimental phases.
The objective is to rethink road sharing among different users: motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, people with reduced mobility, and public transport users. Particular attention is being paid to securing school surroundings, reducing excessive speeds, and improving travel during peak hours. The project also aims to promote soft mobility, especially walking and cycling, by facilitating connections between schools, public facilities, shops, and different neighborhoods.
The future plan also aims to streamline traffic, reduce conflicts between users, and better organize parking according to the needs of each sector. Since February 2025, several streets have undergone experimentation, notably with changes to traffic direction and parking organization. Initial results, combined with feedback from residents, have allowed for the permanent implementation of some improvements and the revision of others.
The initiative continues with new experiments set to begin during the Toussaint holidays in several neighborhoods of Savigny-sur-Orge. These developments will include making certain streets one-way and reorganizing parking. They will allow for the evaluation of new solutions before defining the orientations of the future traffic plan. Residents' observations and discussions within the framework of the Neighborhood Committees will continue to inform this reflection.
