The Town of Épinay-sous-Sénart is continuing the renovation of the poplar grove along the Bords de l’Yerres, weakened by climatic conditions and insects, with new cuttings carried out from September 23 to October 2.

Following a successful first phase last year, new cutting work took place from September 23 to October 2. These operations will be followed by a planting program in 2027. Last month, cuttings were carried out on the plot behind Les Petits Sanceaux. Other areas will be affected in the coming months, with dates and perimeters to be announced soon.
This large-scale project aims to renew the poplar grove, which has suffered since 1990 from droughts, floods, and damage from pest insects. The Town has initiated a redevelopment project to protect the environment and biodiversity, manage floods, and enhance natural heritage. This project is being carried out in partnership with the SyAGE, the Collectif de Sauvegarde de la Vallée de l’Yerres, the Chambre d’Agriculture, and the Commission départementale de la nature, des paysages et des sites.
During the first phase in 2025, over 1500 young trees were planted after a large cutting campaign. Similarly, the areas cleared this year will be replanted during 2027. Ultimately, the Bords de l’Yerres forest will be richer, more resistant, and more favorable to biodiversity.
