The National Cancer Institute highlights the importance of preventing avoidable risk factors and organized screening from the age of 50. These actions help detect the disease early, thereby reducing the burden of treatment and increasing recovery chances. It is estimated that one in 8 women will face this disease in her lifetime, with over 61,000 new cases of breast cancer estimated in 2026.
To inform the public, two videos are offered: 'Organized screening for breast cancer: assessment, challenges, and innovations' (4'03”) and 'Breast cancer screening: Why? How? For whom?' (2'20'').
The town of Bois-Colombes is also organizing local events. The Salle Jean-Renoir will host the show 'La chauve sourit' by Caroline on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 8:30 PM, a humorous and poignant account of the fight against cancer. Breast self-palpation workshops will take place at the Maison de Santé République on Wednesday, October 7 and 14, from 12 PM to 12:30 PM.
Finally, a ZUMBA event is organized at the Complexe Sportif Albert-Smirlian by Gagou Dance Fit on Saturday, October 31, from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. The funds raised (€15 for adults, €10 for ages 8-18) will be donated to the Institut Curie.
