The final stages of renovation for the future media library-cinema in Clichy are nearing completion. Furniture and IT equipment are being progressively installed, heralding the upcoming opening of this new cultural space.
On the second floor, users will discover a significantly expanded computer room. While the former media library only had six workstations, twenty computers will now be accessible to the public. This expansion aims to meet growing demand, particularly for workshops combating the digital divide.
Clément Martin, the digital manager, emphasizes the importance of this new room: "With this new room, we can go further," he explains, referring to workshops previously limited by availability. The computers will allow for internet research, administrative tasks, use of office software, and document printing.
Six workstations will be dedicated to gaming and video game-related activities. Access will be by reservation with the librarians, offering a 1.5-hour slot per day for each member.
The arrival of a new staff member will enable the multiplication of digital workshops. These will cater to various levels, from introductory to advanced, in office software and specialized programs. "We will offer both practical workshops for learning to use the internet, office software, or improving skills. But we will also offer digital creation workshops with more creative content," details Clément Martin.
Three rooms will be available for groups, accommodating up to twelve people in the largest and six in the other two. A "wifi bar" will provide about twenty places equipped with power outlets and connectors for those bringing their own laptops. A long counter along the collections will also allow for comfortable independent work.
New books dedicated to digital topics, such as AI, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, social media, and cybersecurity, are enriching the shelves, offering resources adapted to different learning levels.
