From October 14 to November 8, 2026, the Espace Rosa Bonheur in Fontenay-aux-Roses presents 'Second Skin', an exhibition by artist Ronnie Habib. Through paintings, drawings, and installations, the artist explores how clothing reveals our identity, history, and the realities hidden behind the fabrics we wear.
In 'Second Skin', Ronnie Habib views clothing as an extension of our identity. It can distinguish us, signify belonging or status, and tell a story. In his works, bodies and clothing often merge, while his characteristic figures with purple skin, a result of combining cool and warm colors, create an intermediate hue between black and white.
The exhibition invites visitors to look anew at what they wear daily and what our clothes say about us and society. Born in Dhaka in 1986, Ronnie Habib lives and works in Paris. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Dhaka and later in France, he obtained a master's degree in contemporary creation and plasticity at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2017.
His work, initially focused on ceramics and drawing, gradually shifted to painting. Fueled by his personal history, Bangladeshi heritage, and Western influences, he questions identity, representation, and the individual's place in society. His career has led him to exhibit in Paris, Rouen, London, and Dhaka.
Bangladesh, the world's second-largest clothing producer, boasts a rich textile tradition. In this exhibition, Ronnie Habib addresses the realities of this industry, notably referencing the Rana Plaza tragedy. His work offers a critical perspective on the globalized textile system, overconsumption, and the working conditions associated with garment manufacturing.
From Thursday, June 4 to Friday, June 26, 2026, the exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday from 2 PM to 6 PM, closed on Mondays. The vernissage will take place on Thursday, October 15, starting at 7 PM, with the artist present. Mediation sessions are also planned to deepen the discovery of the works.
