At the call of the Association of Mayors of France, a first gathering took place in front of the Hôtel de Ville to condemn the urban violence. Denis Gabriel, regional councilor and deputy mayor for Security, Mediation, and Prevention, representing the Mayor, strongly condemned these acts, calling them unacceptable and contrary to republican principles. He expressed the City's solidarity with the victims, shopkeepers, elected officials, public servants, as well as the mobilized law enforcement and emergency services, praising their commitment.
Following the racist attack in Trappes and La Verrière, a second gathering brought together Mayor Patrick Ollier, Hauts-de-Seine deputy Pierre Cazeneuve, departmental councilors Xabi Elizagoyen and Rita Demblon, representatives of various religious faiths, municipal and national police forces, and numerous Rueillois residents.
“"This moment of reflection allowed for a tribute to Pengo Bossio Wangi and an expression of sincere support to his loved ones and the injured."
On this occasion, the Mayor forcefully reaffirmed the condemnation of violence and racism, recalling that no difference in origin, skin color, religion, or culture can justify hatred or discrimination. These gatherings demonstrate a shared commitment to defending the principles that found our Republic and preserving social cohesion.
In Rueil-Malmaison, this ambition relies on the mobilization of all: elected officials, security forces, associations, educational actors, religious representatives, and inhabitants. In the face of violence and hatred, the response must be collective, by upholding the values of the Republic, fraternity, and respect for everyone.
