The PLANETES project, a joint laboratory between the Paris Institute of Earth Physics (IPGP) and the start-up MAÅGM, has been selected and funded by the French National Research Agency to develop a new generation of geophysical instruments.

The PLANETES project (Photonics, electronics, and mechanics for new exploration of Earth and the Solar System), led by the Paris Institute of Earth Physics (IPGP) in partnership with the deeptech start-up MAÅGM, has been selected and funded by the French National Research Agency under the LabCom 2026 program.
This joint laboratory, in close collaboration with the Planetology and Space Sciences team and the national observation service for planetary seismology, will establish a sustainable research and development capability. It will be dedicated to creating a new generation of very high-precision mechano-optical instruments.
These instruments will be usable for both space and terrestrial applications, opening new avenues in geophysical exploration.
