The Graduate School One Health – Emerging Infectious Diseases at Université Paris Cité organized an exchange evening on October 14 at the Institut Pasteur to strengthen collaborations between academic and industrial worlds in the face of emerging infectious diseases.

The event, held in the François Jacob amphitheater at the Institut Pasteur, aimed to create a space for dialogue, identify collaboration opportunities, and support the new generation of researchers. The Graduate School coordinators, professors Solen Kernéis and Isabelle Martin-Verstraete, reiterated these goals.
Two round tables highlighted a shared desire to strengthen collaborations, despite persistent dialogue challenges between academic and industrial sectors. Concrete avenues were proposed, including professional immersions, internships in pharmaceutical companies, recruitment forums, and CIFRE doctoral programs.
Doctoral students expressed interest in industrial careers, regretting the lack of information during their university studies. Industry speakers, themselves former academics, encouraged them to explore these professional paths.
The objective is to build lasting links now to quickly mobilize skills and networks for future pandemics. The evening concluded with a networking session.
