Since the beginning of the year, 76 women have been killed by their partner or ex-partner in France. This tragic reality motivates the City of Guyancourt to continue its efforts against violence towards women.
In 2024, internal security forces recorded 107 victims of femicide, 270 victims of attempted femicide, and 906 women victims of (attempted) suicide following harassment by a (ex-)partner. In total, 1,283 women have been victims of couple-related femicides, direct or indirect.
For this day of mobilization, several initiatives are being implemented in Guyancourt. Bread bags distributed in local bakeries feature emergency numbers and a 'violentometer' to assess the degree of violence within a couple.
Informative stickers with QR codes are installed in the restrooms of public facilities and distributed to partner restaurants. These QR codes allow women victims of violence to discreetly access information about available support.
The white ribbon, the international symbol of the fight against violence towards women, is also prominently displayed on the facade of the Town Hall.
