The town of Vaux-le-Pénil is mobilizing throughout October for Pink October, the annual breast cancer awareness campaign, with a central event on Saturday, October 10th at the Ferme des Jeux.

Throughout October, Vaux-le-Pénil, its associations, and municipal services are uniting to raise awareness about screening and support the fight against breast cancer. In France, nearly 60,000 new cases are diagnosed annually, yet early detection allows 9 out of 10 breast cancers to be cured. This campaign is a key opportunity for information.
On Saturday, October 10th, the Ferme des Jeux will host a variety of activities from 4 PM to 6 PM. The program includes a photo studio by Créateurs de souvenirs, workshops for children (ages 1-6) with Explorabulles, a world dance performance by Retraite Sportive Melun Val de Seine at 4:30 PM, a yoga class by Vaux Yoga at 4 PM, a dance performance by Le 5e Art at 5:30 PM, and the presentation of the play C’est bien d’être venues at 6 PM, followed by a discussion with a representative from the CRCDC. The evening concludes at 8 PM at the Petit Théâtre Ginette Kolinka with the play Les Feux de Poitrine by Mariette Navarro, a performance lasting about 1 hour and suitable for ages 10 and up.
Throughout the month, residents, schools, and associations are encouraged to participate by sharing their photos in pink on social media, tagging the Town (@VilleVLP on Facebook, @ville.de.vaux.le.penil on Instagram). These photos will be compiled into a large collective poster.
Various initiatives will mark October. A bra collection is organized, with donations forming a bra tree, and drop-off points at the town hall, l’Arcature, the Maison des Associations, and the Culture, Associative Life, and Animation service. The town hall will also be illuminated in pink. On Tuesday, October 6th, the Ligue contre le cancer will host an awareness and palpation stand in front of the Maison des Associations.
Local associations are actively contributing: the Comité des Fêtes will donate €1 per pitch at its flea market starting Sunday, October 4th. On Monday, October 5th, LSR Vaux will organize a donation drive. On Thursday, October 8th, LISM will present its Cabaret Impro Al Dente to benefit the operation. À Vaux Jeux will hold a collection on Friday, October 9th, followed by Amazones Games. On Saturday, October 10th, Story Danse will offer a workshop and USV Pétanque will participate with a photo of its members dressed in pink.
Sophie HOCINE, Municipal Councilor Delegate for Health and Disability, emphasizes the importance of prevention and screening: 'Our daughters, our mothers, our sisters, our friends, our colleagues… Breast cancer can affect any of us. Preventing is acting. Screening is giving yourself a chance. In October, let's think of ourselves. Let's think of them. Let's get screened.'
