The town of Sannois implemented an innovative pest control operation on October 1st and 2nd, using specially trained ferrets and terrier dogs to enter underground tunnels.

Facing the presence of rats in certain areas, Sannois is strengthening its control measures. In addition to the twice-yearly campaigns organized by the Val Parisis agglomeration, the municipality has enlisted a specialized company for targeted intervention around the market and surrounding areas.
For two days, ferrets were used to explore difficult-to-access underground galleries, flushing out rats that were then captured by specially trained terrier dogs. A second operation is planned for late October in the Loges neighborhood.
"The fight against rats requires regular and complementary interventions. With this operation, we want to act concretely in the affected areas and provide an appropriate response to residents," emphasizes the mayor of Sannois. He also notes that prevention remains essential, as everyone can help limit rat presence by ensuring no waste or food is left in public spaces.
The town reminds residents that maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces is everyone's responsibility. Not leaving waste on the ground, not feeding animals in the street, and using designated bins are simple actions that help limit the proliferation of rats, which is encouraged by the availability of easily accessible food.
A total of 56 individuals were captured around the market, confirming the effectiveness of this method.
