The mayors of Arcueil, Gentilly, Kremlin-Bicêtre, and Villejuif are calling for calm following student mobilizations and violence near educational institutions.

For several weeks, high school students have been voicing concerns about their future, study conditions, and their place in society. The mayors of these municipalities have met with these young people and pledge to continue listening. They emphasize that mobilization and protest are fundamental rights but firmly oppose violence.
Since the return to school on November 2nd, mortar fire has targeted National Education staff, students, and elected officials near a school, resulting in several injuries. These acts endanger lives and distract from the students' legitimate demands.

"A just demand does not need to inflict harm to be heard and always benefits from being carried out without violence."

The elected officials express their support for the injured staff, the management team, and the entire educational community of the high school, who have maintained dialogue under difficult conditions. They also support all students, whether they chose to protest or attend classes. A meeting is scheduled for this Friday morning at the high school, involving the National Education department, parents, and mobilized students.
As high schools fall under the jurisdiction of the Île-de-France Region, the mayors regret its absence and urge it to convene mayors, the educational community, and students promptly to ensure that high schools in their towns are not treated as secondary.
Our young people seek a future worthy of the republican promise, and we stand with them to help them achieve it.
