Since taking over in 2006, choirmaster Elsa Bolmont Spetebroodt has brought new energy to the Chœur Montaigut. Founded in 1996, the choir has evolved under her leadership, exploring a rich repertoire ranging from classical to French chanson, and world music. This collective adventure, focused on sharing, conviviality, and boldness, has united its members around varied and ambitious musical projects.
The choir's history is marked by significant moments, such as the creation of the operetta Terminus Romainville to celebrate its 30th anniversary. This production, the result of two years of work, mobilized everyone's talents in all stage aspects: singing, dancing, costumes, staging, and sets. The choristers explore diverse musical universes, from works by Gabriel Fauré and Antonín Dvořák to operetta tunes, as well as contemporary composers. They have been joined since September by their new accompanist pianist, Marie Cali Baron.
Looking towards the future, the Chœur Montaigut actively collaborates with other local associations. For 2027, a project centered around Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is planned at the Saint-Christophe church, along with a performance on songs of peace, revolt, freedom, and love with the writing workshop of the MJC Village. Preparations for the ensemble's 50th anniversary in 2029 are already underway, including a staged performance and a trip to Scotland as part of the twinning between Créteil and Falkirk.
The Chœur Montaigut, which has performed in Créteil, Val-de-Marne, as well as in Prague, Salzgitter, Anjou, Corsica, Normandy, and Tuscany, continues to promote the joy of singing. Rehearsals take place on Mondays, from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM, at the CACM premises, located at 2, rue Molière. Male voices are particularly welcome, and no prior experience is required.
