The Val-de-Marne Prefecture hosted the department's 3rd Conference of the Parties (COP) on Friday, October 2, 2026. The event gathered over 150 participants, including elected officials and technicians from local authorities, the Région Île-de-France, the Métropole du Grand Paris, the Conseil Départemental du Val-de-Marne, as well as associations, mixed syndicates, network managers, hospitals, economic actors, state operators, and public establishments.
This annual COP aims to share the effects of climate change on the department and the solutions being implemented for reduction and adaptation. The work from the previous two editions (2024 and 2025) has already contributed to the regional roadmap for the 2030 objectives.
The plenary session highlighted the Val-de-Marne's vulnerability to climate change, particularly due to the increase in heatwaves and the drought crisis that led to restriction measures in June. Testimonies from the towns of Charenton, Villejuif, and Alfortville underscored the existing actions by local authorities.
Two workshop sessions marked the day. Dedicated sessions for elected officials facilitated the exchange of experiences on ecological transition projects, focusing on water management and public building renovation. Concurrently, technician workshops addressed the decarbonization of daily mobility, adaptation to heat in urban areas, and the integration of nature in cities, feeding into the regional roadmap adopted in 2025.
These workshops emphasized the importance of local action and the need for continued support from the State and partners such as ADEME, CEREMA, the Agence de l’eau Seine Normandie, and the Banque des territoires.
