A joint statement, signed by Pierre Garzon, mayor of Villejuif, Sophie Pascal-Lericq, mayor of Arcueil, Fatah Aggoune, mayor of Gentilly, and Sophie Taillé-Polian, deputy for the 11th constituency of Val-de-Marne, was published on September 30, 2026. This text affirms the local officials' support for the youth mobilized at Lycée Darius-Milhaud.
That morning, the intercommunal high school Darius-Milhaud was blocked. Local officials, accompanied by youth services, went to the site to meet with the mobilized students. A delegation was then welcomed at the Town Hall of Villejuif for a constructive exchange with the school's headmistress.
The elected officials commend the students' sense of responsibility, as they are largely mobilizing peacefully for their future and study conditions. Their demands concern the fight against sexist and sexual violence, territorial discrimination, overcrowded classes, dilapidated buildings, excessive workload, students' mental health, transportation, unreplaced teachers, and Parcoursup. These demands are deemed legitimate and deserve to be heard.
The movement, which belongs to the students, is supported by the officials who already defend these demands in their roles: a public education service with sufficient resources, dignified study conditions for all students, and the abolition of Parcoursup, described as a 'sorting machine'.
Support for this peaceful mobilization, which is being organized nationwide, is reaffirmed. The elected officials are available to the students to support this civic expression.
