During this period, users will need to use a temporary entrance located on the esplanade de la Mûlatresse-Solitude. The main entrance will reopen on Monday, January 11th. This work aims to create a space for borrowing a selection of books and returning them outside of regular hours.
Following the renovations, the "Ouverture +" service will be launched. It will allow users to return books until 11 PM and borrow them from 6 AM the next morning by scanning their library card at a turnstile. A video surveillance system will also be in place to manage potential incidents.
To benefit from the "Ouverture +" service, three conditions must be met: be registered with the library, be over 16 years old, and make the request at the reception.
“"There was a demand from library users for the creation of an automated book return and lending system."
Jérôme Faucher, a librarian, explained that this initiative responds to user demand. The arrival of Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express, scheduled for 2027, also influenced the implementation of this service, which will facilitate borrowing and returns for commuters.
