For several days, a high school student movement has been shaking the country and has reached the Town of Achères. While the right to protest is recognized, blocking and destruction of public property are not. The degradation of public property and violence against law enforcement are unacceptable.
This morning, a Municipal Police Officer was targeted by stones and mortar fire while on surveillance duty near the Louis Weiss high school. Mayor François DAZELLE offers his full support, as well as that of the Town, which will stand by him in any legal proceedings. The perpetrator has been identified, and the National Police thanked for their mobilization and composure.
François DAZELLE calls for calm. He commends the calmness and professionalism of the school's educational team in managing these incidents. The Town of Achères, its elected officials, and municipal staff remain available for discussion and dialogue to move forward together.
