On the occasion of the second Parasport 78 Day, the Department of Yvelines has strengthened its commitment to parasport. A framework convention was signed on October 13th with seven territorial partners to enhance initiative coordination and facilitate access to physical activity for people with disabilities.
This new governance focuses on three priorities: coordinating parasport actions in Yvelines, improving awareness of available projects and aid, and strengthening the skills of professionals in sports, health, and social fields.
Signatories include the Prefecture of Yvelines, the Departmental Service for Youth, Engagement, and Sports (SDJES), the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF), the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the Parasport Health Institute Foundation (IPS), and the Departmental Committees for Handisport (CDH), Adapted Sport (CDSA), and Olympic and Sports (CDOS).
“"In a fractured French society, sport allows us to build a nation, together. All forms of sports practice contribute to uniting us and add to the foundation of a country that needs it."
The event brought together 375 participants at the Palais des Sports Pierre de Coubertin in Plaisir, offering various workshops such as boccia, para-judo, blind football, cross-fit, and para-golf. Several athletes, including Departmental Ambassadors and renowned Yvelines para-athletes, were present to interact with attendees.
This day, co-organized by the Department, aimed to connect the needs of people with disabilities with the offerings of welcoming para-sports clubs in Yvelines. The initiated dynamic follows the momentum of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
