The City of Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse has initiated proceedings with the Prefecture to obtain recognition of natural disaster status due to drought and soil rehydration. This procedure aims to support residents whose buildings and homes have suffered damage.
The request, forwarded nationally for assessment of the abnormal intensity of the climatic phenomenon, specifically concerns differential ground movements likely to damage structures. Official recognition is not yet secured and will depend on the State services' decision.
Residents who have observed damage are invited to report their claim to their insurance company, keep all supporting evidence (photographs, reports), and notify the town hall via the Insurance department by email or post.
If recognized by prefectural decree, affected residents will have 30 days after publication to declare their claim to their insurer and seek compensation, subject to contractual and regulatory conditions, including a specific deductible for damages related to ground movements.
The City will keep residents informed of the State services' decision as soon as it is known.
