Brune Massoulié, a PhD student at the Centre for Research in Decision Mathematics (CEREMADE) at Paris Dauphine University – PSL, has received the L'Oréal-UNESCO « For Women in Science » 2026 France Young Talents award for her research on the collective dynamics of particles.
This distinction, presented by the L'Oréal Foundation in partnership with the Academy of Sciences and the French National Commission for UNESCO, recognizes young female researchers for their excellent academic records, the originality of their scientific projects, and their commitment to inspiring younger generations. The four laureates of this edition were selected from over 800 candidates.
At CEREMADE, Brune Massoulié's work focuses on understanding the collective dynamics of particles. She studies particle systems, which are mathematical models describing the evolution of physical systems, such as water freezing. Her research aims to determine the time it takes for these systems to reach an equilibrium state, thereby enhancing the understanding of matter dynamics at the microscopic level and improving the performance of certain random algorithms.
As a laureate doctoral student, she will receive a research grant of 15,000 euros and access to a complementary training program to support her scientific career.
Brune Massoulié is among the four PhD students from PSL laboratories honored this year, alongside Chloé Fruy, Irène Urso, and Fadma Lakhal. For the past twenty years, the « For Women in Science » Young Talents France program has supported young female researchers and worked to overcome obstacles hindering their progress in scientific careers.
