Under the national theme « Savory Flavors », this edition highlights cuisine, taste, and food from a scientific perspective. The university offers an interdisciplinary look at food chemistry, neuroscience, microbiology, and nutrition, through 80 events accessible to all ages.
Labeled « Science with and for Society », Université Paris Cité reaffirms its commitment to promoting open science, aligned with major contemporary challenges and planetary health.
The Grands Moulins campus (Paris 13th arrondissement) will transform into an open-air laboratory from October 1 to 3. This science village, free for the general public, will also welcome nearly 1,000 students from the Île-de-France region.
Among the activities offered, discover workshops such as « Polar Expedition and Food Logistics », a collaborative game on planning supplies in extreme environments; « Nutri-score, what's behind the letters? », explaining the evolution of the nutritional logo; and « The Good Taste of Microbes », a fun dive into the world of bacteria.
Women's health will also be in focus with retrospectives on medical and social advances, and interactive quizzes on menstrual poverty, offered by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Women's Health (iWISH).
The Fête de la Science will continue until October 12 with other free events, including the theatrical conference « The Trial of the Sky » (October 2, Paris 13th), the theatrical performance « The Life of Galileo » (October 6, Fontainebleau theater), a round table « Sleep Better to Think Better » (October 7, Paris 6th), and « The Great Health Debunk » special nutrition (October 8, Paris 6th).
The Institute of Earth Physics of Paris (IPGP) will open its doors from October 8 to 10 (Paris 5th) for immersive workshops, such as discovering the ocean depths or exploring the solar system in virtual reality.
Finally, a sensory workshop « Travelers of the Palace » (October 11, Paris 7th) will explore cuisine as a vector of social connection.
