This new offering aims to understand, transmit, and question biodiversity. The Biodiversity Pathway, rolled out throughout the year in collaboration with Micro-Folie partners, provides various resources and formats for mediators and the public. It serves as a guide to the Biodiversity Collection, offering content to support mediation activities on current biodiversity challenges.
In response to the climate emergency, the Biodiversity Collection aligns with Micro-Folie's missions of transmission and education. It pursues three complementary educational objectives: exploring representations of nature in art history, presenting biodiversity as an object of knowledge, and inviting a rethinking of our relationship with the living world through contemporary creation.
The theme 'Representing Biodiversity: The Forms of Nature' examines how artists have depicted the natural world throughout the centuries, from ancient frescoes to still lifes, and how these artistic perspectives can help us reconsider our relationship with life.
'Naming, Classifying, Preserving: Biodiversity as an Object of Knowledge' highlights the history of observing, measuring, and classifying life, from early herbaria to contemporary databases, underscoring the link between science and art.
Finally, 'Inhabiting Life: Creating With and In Nature' explores, through contemporary art, architecture, and design, new ways of coexisting with the living world, where artists engage with natural cycles.
The Micro-Festivals initiative complements this offering with a selection of artistic proposals related to the Biodiversity Pathway. In the face of the climate emergency, artists are questioning our relationship with the living world as a cultural issue, aiming to raise awareness and renew imaginations.
The Collection also benefits from partner contributions. The Fondation Orange offers two 'Bulles de Folie' on fauna and flora in art. ARTE provides a selection of documentary programs on science and the environment, with mediation tools. The GrandPalaisRMN supplies educational kits on art and environmental protection.
The Micro-Folie network also shares best practices through 10 testimonials, highlighting the integration of thematic programming into major national events, environmental awareness initiatives, and the development of local partnerships.
