Université Paris Cité reaffirms its commitment to an accessible and inclusive university environment on the occasion of the World Day of Persons with Disabilities. The institution is implementing actions to better address disability situations and promote the participation of all in university life, for both students and staff.
The term "disability," of English origin, has evolved to now refer to a situation where the accessibility of the environment, studies, and work plays a crucial role in everyone's participation.
The Student Disability Office (PHE), in conjunction with the Student Health Service (SSE), supports students with disabilities throughout their university journey. The goal is to identify their needs and implement necessary accommodations for their studies and exams. To benefit from accommodations in the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, registration with the PHE must be completed by October 30, 2026. Specific deadlines apply to PASS and LAS students, with final dates extending to April 30, 2027 for oral exams.
The university's commitment also extends to its nearly 8000 staff members. Currently, 237 are registered as beneficiaries of the employment obligation (BOE), bringing the employment rate of workers with disabilities to 4.28%. This increase reflects the university's dedication to enhancing the reception, support, and retention of staff with disabilities.
These results align with a strengthened national dynamic, following the 7th National Disability Conference on September 4, 2026, which set 16 commitments and 65 measures. Université Paris Cité is currently drafting a new disability strategic plan to structure its accessibility and inclusion policies.
