The Mayor of Esbly, Ghislain DELVAUX, inaugurated the new self-service at the Centre school this Wednesday, November 4, 2026, marking a significant improvement for over 300 children and municipal staff.

The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the Sub-Prefect of Torcy, Alain NGOUOTO, Senator Anne CHAIN-LARCHÉ, departmental councilors Anne GBIORCZYK and Thierry CERRI, President of Val d’Europe Agglomération, Philippe DESCROUET, as well as several local mayors and elected officials. Also present were representatives from the Esbly Youth Municipal Council, academy inspector Valérie STRUB, honorary mayor of Esbly Valérie POTTIEZ-HUSSON, director of the Centre school Magali COLLARD, municipal agents, parent representatives, architect Pedro COUTO, and the companies involved in the project.
This new self-service addresses an urgent need, as over 300 children from the Les Couleurs kindergarten and the Centre elementary school had been having lunch in difficult conditions until July 2026, with cramped spaces and inadequate equipment. This situation led to significant management difficulties for staff, degraded working conditions, problems with adhering to schedules, and an atmosphere not conducive to a serene midday break.
Following a phase of reflection, consultation, and technical development, the Municipality of Esbly launched the renovation work during the summer of 2026. These works have provided better reception conditions, greater autonomy, and a proper mealtime for the children, while also improving the working conditions for those who support them daily.
The Mayor highlighted the financial support from the State (DETR: €211,680), the Departmental Council of Seine-et-Marne (FAC: €159,160), and Val d’Europe Agglomération (€120,000), without which the project could not have been realized. The total cost of the operation, excluding subsidies, amounts to €631,859 excluding tax.
Charles CAÏUS, Deputy Mayor in charge of works, and the municipal technical services staff were thanked for their commitment, as were the companies that contributed to the project's success within the tight timeframe of the summer holidays, enabling an essential operational opening on September 1st.
