The municipality of Livry-Gargan has initiated an ambitious renovation project for the water feature in Lefèvre Park, aiming to restore its ecosystem and enhance its appeal, with works scheduled until summer 2027.

The municipality intends to restore the full splendor of this site, which holds a special place in the hearts of Livry residents. Initial efforts will focus on enhancing its water feature, with a major project for the renaturation of the pond's banks.
These interventions aim to recreate natural environments more conducive to biodiversity, while durably protecting the banks from erosion and trampling. The construction work will also include dredging the body of water. The extracted mud will partly be used to fill the narrowest arm of the pond, where a megaphorbia, a natural habitat planted with adapted species, will be created.
The island dedicated to birds will be sanctuaryed, and fountain work will improve the water feature's oxygenation to restore a balanced aquatic ecosystem. The project also includes amenities to boost the park's attractiveness, such as the redevelopment of the paths along the pond and the creation of a new pontoon behind the château. The rock fountain will also be restored.
Before draining the pond, a conservation fishing event will be organized to protect the species present, which will be transferred or migrate naturally. The works, planned until summer 2027, will take place after the nesting period. The park will remain accessible to the public, including the Château de la Forêt and the children's playground, with two entrances open.
'Through this operation, the City reaffirms its commitment to preserving its natural heritage,' concludes Gérard Attard, deputy mayor in charge of green spaces. The project, amounting to 1.4 million euros, benefits from the support of the Région Ile-de-France (€270,000), the State (€155,000), and the Métropole du Grand Paris (€500,000).
