A national screening campaign for transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, nicknamed the 'Chameleon Disease', is being organized in the autumn of 2026 in Val-de-Marne to improve early diagnosis.

Symptoms such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinous pain, fatigue, or shortness of breath can sometimes be linked to transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. This little-known heart disease is often diagnosed late.
Warning signs can appear several years before cardiac symptoms, including tendon disorders, joint pain, or progressive hearing loss. Screening days are primarily aimed at individuals over 50 years old presenting at least one suggestive rheumatological, orthopedic, or ENT sign.
Two screening days are scheduled in Val-de-Marne: on October 26, 2026, at AP-HP Henri-Mondor in Créteil, and on November 17, 2026, at AP-HP Kremlin-Bicêtre.
The objective of this campaign is to better identify these warning signs to enable earlier patient referral and management.
