MAC VAL, the contemporary art museum of Val-de-Marne, invites families to discover contemporary art from a child's perspective during the 4th edition of the "Pouce" festival, taking place on October 27, 2026. This free event offers a playful immersion into the art world through visits, shows, and workshops.

MAC VAL transforms its spaces into a large playground for children and their families for a weekend. The goal is to foster children's cultural and artistic awakening by allowing them to discover, participate, and experience contemporary art in an interactive and sensory way.
The program, still being finalized, includes a variety of activities. Among them, "Bébés au MAC VAL" offers a visit adapted for babies (8 to 36 months) and their parents, focusing on emotions and sensations around the artworks. Advance registration is required starting Wednesday, November 18.
Other events are planned, such as the inauguration of Vincent Capmartin's "Cabane d’Hiver", family dance tours, and continuous workshops like "Mythe MAC" and "Collages Queer" with Arthur Vacher, which invites participants to play with museum archives to explore themes of identity and gender.
The exhibitions "Le genre idéal" and "Ici grand ouvert" by SMITH will be central to several activities, including storytelling tours and family visits led by guides. Creative workshops such as "Light painting" with Veronica Benedetti and "Wonderful paper clouds" with Marie Le Coz are also offered.
The festival also includes a screening of the film "The NeverEnding Story" (1984) by Wolfgang Petersen, as well as performances like "Fetura" by the company Un confetti sur la Branche and "Ballade, traverse la forêt, monte l’échelle et touche le ciel" by the company Crile.
A special program around the exhibition "Ici grand ouvert" by SMITH is scheduled for World AIDS Day, with the presence of associations and an intervention by Marc-Antoine Bartoli and Hélène Giannecchinni.
The documentation center will present the birth albums "Livres pour grandir" and offer workshops on artist's books. The closing of this 4th edition of the festival is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
