RATP INFRASTRUCTURES teams conducted major renovation works on the RER A between Vincennes and Val de Fontenay this summer, halting services for 16 days to replace aging infrastructure.

This summer, a large-scale renovation project took place on the RER A line, between Vincennes and Val de Fontenay. The objective was to replace infrastructure that had been in service for nearly forty years to ensure the line's reliability and performance. To carry out this operation, train services were completely suspended for 16 days in this section.
The program included the renewal of 1.3 kilometers of track, 4 sets of points, the supporting structure beneath the tracks, and several signaling equipment components. These components, having reached the end of their service life, were replaced with more efficient and reliable installations.
The first essential step was to secure the work zone, confirm the suspension of train traffic, and prepare for the arrival of construction machinery. Subsequently, teams removed the rails, sleepers, and ballast, followed by earthworks to rebuild the supporting structure. The installation of new components followed a precise order: ballast, sleepers, then rails, using specialized machinery.
In parallel, four sets of points, crucial for train track changes and operational flexibility, were replaced. This technical operation required extreme care for installation, connection, and adjustments.
After the new track was laid, signaling and speed control equipment were reinstalled and tested. Numerous technical checks were then performed to ensure the compliance of the new installations before train services resumed.
RATP INFRASTRUCTURES thanks passengers for their understanding and patience. These operations are carried out during the least busy weeks of the year to minimize inconvenience.
