On October 10, 2026, the Niki de Saint Phalle bridge was inaugurated in Vitry-sur-Seine, in the Val-de-Marne department. This structure aims to facilitate travel between the Ardoines districts, historically divided by railway lines, and is part of an urban development and public transport improvement initiative.

The opening of the Niki de Saint Phalle bridge marks a key milestone in the transformation of the Ardoines sector in Vitry-sur-Seine. By crossing the railway lines, it eliminates a long-standing urban divide and enhances connections between neighborhoods, the train station, and developing areas.
This project is integrated into a metropolitan-scale development strategy, serving as a structuring element of the ZAC Gare Ardoines within the Opération d'intérêt national (OIN) Orly-Rungis-Seine. The goal is to establish the Ardoines as a major attraction hub in Île-de-France, combining economic development, housing, facilities, and quality public spaces.
The transformation of the Ardoines is based on an ambitious program encompassing economic activities, housing, and an improved living environment. The ZAC Gare Ardoines, spanning 49 hectares, plans for the development of 310,000 m² of offices, 229,000 m² of housing (including 40% social housing), 83,000 m² of commercial activities, and 17,000 m² of retail space. Previous achievements include a logistics hotel in 2024 and the Joséphine-Baker school complex in 2025.
The bridge contributes to structuring this new district, with landscaping that enhances public spaces and pathway continuity, while addressing environmental concerns and flood risks. Ultimately, the Ardoines sector is projected to accommodate approximately 8,000 housing units, supported by services and amenities for new residents.
The structure is also designed to accommodate infrastructure for the future TZen 5, an all-electric bus rapid transit line connecting Paris to Choisy-le-Roi. It includes the bus platform, planned stations, and provisions for pedestrians and cyclists. The district will also benefit from the arrival of line 15 Sud of the Grand Paris Express, with the Ardoines station scheduled for service in autumn 2027, along with new bus routes.
These projects aim to strengthen connections between the Ardoines, other areas of Vitry-sur-Seine, and major transport hubs in the Île-de-France region. The bridge thus facilitates travel and transfers between different modes of transport.
The bridge's construction was supported by a financial partnership involving the State, the Île-de-France Region, the Société du Grand Paris, EPA ORSA, the Department of Val-de-Marne, and the public territorial establishment Grand-Orly Seine Bièvre. The State finances 8.52% of the cost, the Île-de-France Region contributes 19.88%, and the Société du Grand Paris accounts for 40.57% for the Grand Paris Express. The State also co-financed the development of the Ardoines sector with €33.5 million.
The inauguration of the Niki de Saint Phalle bridge exemplifies the synergy between mobility infrastructure and urban transformation projects. By improving inter-district links and preparing for new public transport options, this structure contributes to the development of a strategic sector in the Val-de-Marne. During the ceremony, the State was represented by Magali Daverton, prefect delegate for equal opportunities.
