This closure of nearly nine months, necessary for significant security reinforcement works, will impact travel in western Île-de-France. The Île-de-France Road Directorate (DiRIF) is undertaking these works to strengthen the tunnel's structure and ensure user safety, particularly in anticipation of the tunnel boring machine for the future Line 15 West of the Grand Paris Express.
The Paris → province direction will be closed from the ring road (boulevard périphérique) to the Vaucresson interchange. The province → Paris direction will remain open for most of the works, except during two months in the summer of 2027 for complementary interventions on the Saint-Cloud viaduct.
With up to 80,000 vehicles using the A13 daily, this closure presents a major traffic challenge. Significant consequences are expected in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, including longer travel times, rerouted traffic to other routes (A12, RN12, A86), and access difficulties for employees and businesses.
The DiRIF is overseeing the works and informing users. Alternative routes and support measures are planned. Official information is available on Sytadin, SANEF, and Bison Futé. SANEF also broadcasts on 107.7.
Strengthening public transport services is also a key issue. Île-de-France Mobilités is working to adapt train and bus services.
Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is mobilizing to defend the territory's accessibility. The agglomeration is requesting an exceptional toll rate on the Duplex A86 and enhanced public transport. President Lorrain Merckaert has met with economic stakeholders and state representatives to secure concrete solutions.
The Community Council adopted a motion calling for exceptional pricing on the Duplex A86 (around €3.50 per trip), reinforcement of public transport (Express line 7815), improvement of diversion routes, and SQY's involvement in work monitoring committees.
