The commercial offering in Jouars-Pontchartrain, already recognized, will be enhanced by a new space dedicated to short supply chains. Following the 2022 Shop’In study, which highlighted the need to strengthen the food sector, particularly for delicatessens and greengrocers, the municipality has decided to preempt a commercial property. This initiative aims to accommodate and support future merchants while preserving the quality of life in the town center.
The future 'Halle des saveurs' will feature businesses currently absent or under-represented, such as a butcher, a cheesemonger, and a greengrocer. A dedicated area will also be set aside for local producers and artisans to sell nearby products (honey, flour, eggs, pasta) in a 'farm shop' spirit, while another section will serve as a showcase for local creators.
To realize this project, the municipality has acquired the property located at 24 route de Paris for €460,600. The acquisition deed was signed by Monsieur le Maire on January 29, 2026. Financing is provided by a reduced-rate loan from the Banque des Territoires.
A working group is currently defining the project, its economic model, and the conditions for merchants to set up shop. A questionnaire will soon be distributed to residents to gather their expectations. Initial contacts have been made with interested professionals.
The next steps include finalizing technical and financial studies, as well as submitting two grant applications to the Région Île-de-France (under the 'Commercial revitalization of rural municipalities' scheme) and the State (Activity Premises Restructuring Fund). An operational timeline will then be established for the implementation of this key project.
